About
Baron Anthony Sovory grew up in Los Angeles, shaped by a home where ministry wasn't a job — it was a way of life. His father, Pastor Allen Sovory, was a long-serving pastor and evangelist. His mother, Rosalyn, was a nurse. Between them, he learned early that compassion is both a calling and a practice.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Pastoral Ministry from Oakwood University — a historically Black university in Alabama — then his Master of Divinity from Andrews University Theological Seminary in Michigan. In 2025, he completed his Doctor of Ministry at Claremont School of Theology, with research centered on the Compassion Cycle framework: integrating self-awareness, empathy, and intentional compassionate action into spiritual wellness and pastoral leadership.
Today he serves as Senior Pastor of Valley Fellowship SDA Church in Rialto, CA — a multi-generational congregation he has led since 2020. He also sits on the SECC Executive Committee, leads the Black Ministerial Fellowship as its current President, and is a contributor and instructor for the forthcoming SECC Center of Discipleship.
His mission, drawn from John 10:10, is simple: ignite God's people with passion and purpose. Outside the pulpit, he's a basketball and softball player, a golfer, and a devoted lover of music in all its forms — from classical to jazz and everything in between. Above all, he cherishes his family and the friends who make the journey richer.

The message hasn't changed. The methods must. Rooted in doctoral research on compassion, empathy, and self-awareness in church contexts, I preach, equip, and build — anchoring every initiative in the call of Micah 6:8: justice, mercy, humble faithfulness. Ministry that moves through technology, storytelling, and relational intelligence to make discipleship not just an event, but a way of life.
